Best Nintendo DS Role Playing Game (RPG)

Role playing games provide some of the best value on any system, offering anywhere from 40 to 100 hours or more of gameplay. And just because you’re playing on a handheld doesn’t mean you should get any less game for your dollar. A good RPG not only provides plenty of content, but it provides a deep and engaging experience that brings a story and characters to life in a way that other genres have a hard time doing. More often than not, an RPG rewards strategy and creative thinking over fast thumbs. But what an RPG needs to be great is give the player the feeling that his decisions be they dialogue choices or battle tactics have weight upon the outcome.
Chrono Trigger (DS)

Why it's best: Chrono Trigger is a timeless RPG that was first released on the Super Nintendo in 1995, but hasnt lost a step over the years. This port retains everything that made it a classic, but with more intuitive controls than the SNES could provide. Read Full Review

The World Ends With You (DS)

Why it's best: The dead walk among the living in The World Ends With You, a fantastic RPG that blends the morbid with the magical. This title uses all the versatile controls of the DS to get you into the game, including both the touch screen and the microphone, so you might not want to play this one on the bus. Read Full Review

Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS)

Why it's best: When you think of RPGs, the Mario Brothers arent exactly the first names you think of. But the fact of the matter is these popular plumbers have made a long line of funyet unconventionalrole playing games that add a much-needed dash of action, humor, and even platforming that somehow works. Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies
